DESCRIPTION:

The Environmental Education Network (EEN) announces a competition for proposals on environmental education (EE) micro projects open to all applicants in Armenia. The topics of the EE micro projects could include water, energy, waste management/recycling, biodiversity, endangered species, nature conservation or restoration, ecosystems, or other environmental topics of interest to the applicant.

The project audience should be school-aged children, 6-18 years old. The project should be devoted to environmental issue on a local or global scale. The selection committee will prioritize proposals that:

ELIGIBILITY AND SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

All individuals, local governments, and non-governmental organizations can apply. Priority will be given to those from cities or villages, outside of Yerevan. To participate in the competition, applicants should submit:

Up to 5 winners will be selected. Each of the winners will be granted up to 475,000 AMD for project implementation.

The applicant can submit their application in Armenian or in English.

The funding of the project is provided by the Norwegian Government’s Small Grants Program to the American University of Armenia’s Acopian Center for the Environment for developing environmental education capacity in Armenia, including establishment and strengthening of the Environmental Education Network (EEN), a learning partnership between civil society, educational institutions, government, and international organizations.

RESULTS OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION MICRO PROJECT COMPETITION

Overall we got 126 application from all over Armenia and even Artsakh. The distribution of received applications among regions is as follow:

The selection process included 3 steps:

Step 1 – Review the application packages for completeness. Have the applicants submitted all documents requested, have they completed all information on Application form and have they sent it on time? Those application packages that miss documents that we have asked for were eliminated.

Step 2 – The selection committee is formed from the Environmental Education Network (EEN), which evaluated all the remaining proposals based on selection criteria announced. The following members were involved:

Step 3 – Selection committee discussed the applications with the highest marks of each committee member during the meeting. 10 applications are shortlisted. Originally 5 winners were to be selected but we will try to fund all 10 that are shortlisted!
