Green Agenda Armenia

Project description: The goal of the Green Agenda Armenia project is to assist the country in reaching its green transition objectives, including climate neutrality, biodiversity and ecosystem conservation, pollution reduction and management, sustainable economic growth, and just transition.

The project offers national assessment, planning for change, development of investment proposals, offering technical assistance to government agencies, and developing capacity building programs for national authorities.

The project encompasses a broad range of policy areas identified by the European Green Deal (EGD), organized under various thematic and cross-cutting areas:

Green Agenda Armenia is part of a larger regional SEI initiative called the Green Agenda for Armenia, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine.

Implementing Partners: Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI) and AUA Acopian Center for the Environment (starting June 2025)

Funding agency: The Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida)

Direct beneficiaries: Government of Armenia, particularly the Republic of Armenia (RA) Ministry of Environment, RA Ministry of Economy, and RA Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure.

Other key governmental stakeholders: RA Ministry of High-Tech Industry (MHTI), Ministry of Finance (MoF), Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport (MoESCS), Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), and Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs (MLSA)

Timeline: 3 years (2023-2026). Starting in May 2024, the AUA Acopian Center also collaborated with SEI to prepare the National Comprehensive Green Transition Assessment Report for Armenia, released June 2025
