Alen

 

ALEN AMIRKHANIAN

Alen Amirkhanian is the Director of the American University of Armenia’s (AUA) Acopian Center for the Environment, a position he has held since 2013. In 2014, he established AUA Center for Responsible Mining and is acting as its Interim Director. He teaches graduate and undergraduate environmental courses at AUA. Prior to AUA, he was Senior Vice President of Research at Michael Porter’s Initiative for a Competitive Inner City. He has consulted with the World Bank, UNDP, and the Brookings Institution on energy efficiency as well as economic and urban-growth issues. His current academic interests include urban environmental sustainability, “greening” the built environment, and circular economy esp. as it relates to “greening” cities. Alen holds a Masters in City Planning (’97) from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Department of Urban Studies and Planning.

 

Astghine

 

ASTGHINE PASOYAN

Ms. Astghine Pasoyan teaches Engineering Green Buildings, Decision Making Tools in Energy Generation and Use,, Business and Environmental Sustainability, and other courses at AUA. She is an expert in energy efficiency (EE) with over 20 years of experience in Southeast European & CIS countries. Over the past decade she has managed EE planning and legal reform efforts, market assessments, development of financing schemes for building EE investments, among others. She has also managed ans co-authored the development of national EE strategy in Macedonia and the national EE action plans in most of the West Balkan countries, Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova. Mrs Pasoyan has established four revolving funds assisting housing associations in implementing residential EE projects. Since 2003 she has been leading a grassroots effort to support energy efficiency and energy planning on residential and municipal levels through the Foundation to Save Energy NGO. She has been teaching Environmental and Natural Resource Economics at the Agribusiness Training Center in Armenia. She holds a Master’s in environmental economics from Brown University (2001).

 

ANDRE

 

ANDRE OHANIAN

Andre Ohanian is a civil engineer with a master’s degree in industrial and civil construction. He has been in charge for delivering technical assistance programs with INGOs and financial institutions for the past 8 years. He has developed technical guidelines and conducted trainings on construction/refurbishments, energy efficiency, solar thermal systems and earthquake resilience. He has also been involved in projects such as energy audits, construction of dams and reservoirs, exploitation of hydraulic structures, rehabilitation of residential buildings and private houses.
Currently he is managing the technical components of the EU funded thermal refurbishment project in 45 residential buildings in Spitak and Vayk cities with Habitat for Humanity Armenia.

 

ARTAK

 

ARTAK HAMBARIAN

Dr. Hambarian serves as Assistant Professor and Researcher in the CSE. He has supervised a number of international research projects related to alternative energy and design of test equipment for the semiconductor industry. His interests include issues related to product life-cycles, heuristic scheduling, renewable energy, solar hot water and photovoltaic applications, as well as topics in semiconductor technology, such as interaction of laser radiation with semiconductor surfaces both for testing and for modification of characteristics.

 

DIANA

 

DIANA HARUTYUNYAN

Diana Harutyunyan is almost 15 years in climate change affairs. She got her Master degree in Biology (honors) and PhD degree in Biochemistry from Yerevan State University. Diana is coordinating the climate change programme of UNDP in Armenia and assisting the Ministry of Nature Protection in implementation of its commitments under UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, since 1999. She is a member of Executive Board to Kyoto Protocol’s Clean Development Mechanism and nominated expert to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. She has supported the Armenian Delegation in negotiations as expert during several Conferences of Parties to the Convention. Diana led development of the Second and Third national communication of Armenia to the convention and she is author of scientific articles and editor of more than dozen publications on climate change.

HAYK SHEKYAN

Mr. Shekyan is the founder and CEO of Shtigen Ltd. A pioneer in the Armenian renewable energy and energy efficiency market by designing and introducing affordable solutions (the range includes solar thermal, solar power, energy audit, solar PV project design) with a number of international and local suppliers and partners. He has extensive experience in the banking sector, where he was the Head of Retail Business Development Department at VTB-Armenia Bank; afterwards he was the Deputy Retail Director for development at Ardshinbank CJSC. Mr. Shekyan is well-experienced in teaching and has also given talks in his field at local and international seminars and workshops.

Sargis Baveyan wos born in Yerevan, on 1983. Sargis has been the founder and managing director of MEP Consulting Engineers LLC since 2012. His main profession is energy efficiency consulting, energy audit and HVAC systems design. Over the past 10 years, he has been experienced in design and commissioning of engineering systems, engineering supervision and coordination, QC/QA management. Sargis is a graduate of the State Engineering University of Armenia and has recently completed his Master’s degree in Industrial engineering and Systems Management at the AUA.
