The AUA Acopian Center for the Environment and AUA Manoogian Simone College of Business and Economics, the AUA Master of Economics Program co-organized a technical talk for economists on “Estimating the Economic Impact of Natural Protected Areas: Methods and Cases.”

About the speaker:
Dr. Thiago Beraldo Souza is a member of World Commission of Protected Areas – WCPA/IUCN. He works for the Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation (ICMBio), a government agency responsible for the federal protected areas of Brazil since 2002. He earned a PhD in Interdisciplinary Ecology with a focus on Tourism and Recreation Management at the University of Florida, USA in 2016. His objective is to understand the relationships between supply, demand and economic benefits of recreation in protected areas.
